Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Sightsavers Without Borders.  We need volunteers who are willing to serve either on a short-term or a long-term basis.   Both medical professionals and non-medical volunteers are needed to assist in Guatemala.

Sightsavers Without Borders will not charge the volunteers.  The volunteers are responsible for transportation to the Airport in Guatemala City and for room and board while staying in Guatemala.  Transportation from the Airport in Guatemala City to our location will be arranged and provided for by the organization.

Two options are available for room and board while in Guatemala.  Option one is for approximately $15 per day private housing can be provided with an additional cost for meals which must be purchased on the local economy.  Option two is for around $15 a day you may chose to stay with a Guatemalan family, with some meals provided.   Meals will be provided when the volunteers are with us during a clinic. The organization will make arrangements for room & board according to your preference.

US Citizens only need a passport to travel to Guatemala if they will be staying less then 90 days.  A volunteer would have to obtain a visa for stays longer then 90 days or they may optionally elect to travel to another country for about 3 days and then return to Guatemala for another 90 days.  Citizens of other countries should contact the nearest Guatemalan Embassy for entry requirements into Guatemala.
